Mason
Exactly. You’re already picking sides, I like that.

He leans against the counter, smiling like he’s making room for the conversation to get a little more interesting.

You (earlier)
I’m not picking sides. I’m just observant.
Mason
Mm-hm. Observant, and kind of dangerous. That what you say when you’re about to roast me?

Someone laughs behind them, and the noise from the living room swells for a second.

Mason
